What’s the deal: The pricing to me makes a difference between online and in-store!

Now I’ll go on record as I would classify myself as a person who will check online deal for a product that I am looking for whether it’s a automobile to simply customer electronics, computers, televisions, DVD’s and memory cards would all fall straight into that category.

So here I am on a Saturday evening shopping for a microSD Memory card for my fathers cell phone and these are somewhat expensive items to buy for a cell phone, however we really needed one and I search three retailers that I could visit in person…I came across a deal on Circuit City.com where online they had a Scandisk 2GB microSD card for $25.99 (regularly $79.99 minus 54.99 instantly), so I do the simple thing of printing it out and bringing it with me and off to the store 15 minutes away, you know, we want it today.

He’s the fun part, we get to the store and the price is $79.99, now that’s expensive considering other stores have it for $40.00+ or less give or take a weekend. Normally we would have walked from that price so fast and said there’s another retailer down the street, I will try there, enter the printout and the sale associate who I asked where are the memory cards and it just so happens that he picks up that memory card. Others around it say $29.99 or something around that price and I see that 80 bucks and I’m like what???? Just that quickly, I pull out the online printout and show him, he says no problem, go to the cashier and show him that and you’re all set.

Wait it gets better, at the cashier, the guy says it comes up for $29.99 and I have already shown him the online printout and he asks me “Do you want the online price?” Response is yeah! my father and I were both shocked, at this point he’s thinking “here’s your sign” and we get it for $25.99.

All the way out of the store, were shocked, what was that, now I have to say, if I hadn’t looked it up online, I would have walked or picked something around it, common since people, I’m also thinking why the price difference, its only $4 plus tax and yet that’s $4 to spend on something else including bills or food.

What an experience and you know Buyer Beware, I am surprised at CC, and they are normally so good at pricing with online pricing.

Now…if only retailers would get rid of these mail-in rebates, they turn me off from buying a product, I am more likely to buy a product with the instant savings vs. mail-in rebates, because something could go wrong and your out maybe $150+ and then what are you think…

An August days travel: Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in Connecticut.

The idea of writing about my recent travels is nothing new to me, I also write about my travels every year to New Hampshire Motor (formerly International) Speedway for NASCAR at least once a year, but its rare to see write about non-motorsports travels, however in my daily visits to my favorite blogs, I read something intreging over at Lorelle on wordpress blog, she has issued a challenge for her fellow bloggers to write a travel post consider that she travels a lot.

Now, I have to say, what I consider travel and what she considers travel may be two different things, my travels doesn’t consist of hotel rooms, its normally a driving trip a couple hours away to a location and in the same day, driving back home. With that said, I still wanted to try my luck at this one sort of speck.

This past August, I had the chance to travel to Connecticut with my mother and her husband to try my luck at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casino experience in one day and what a day, with money in hand, we started our journey down the highway to the first of the two casinos, Foxwoods, for a game of poker for my mother’s husband, while that was going on, we continued on to Mohegan Sun about 15 miles away and what a difference it is, as you go over the bridge to the highway entrance, you see of in the distance, an amazing sight as what looks like a glass work of art. Wow, you pull up and the parking is just right, five levels all with what’s full and what’s not.

Once inside, its nothing like I’ve every seen, wooden carvens, water falls and lots of stores to slots and boy do I love playing the slots, keep in mind, I really only have a mony to gamble with and once its gone, so am I, did I spend it all, no, not even close. They say diamonds are a girls best friend, but on this day that slot of diamonds was my best friend, a couple of hours on $40 was cool, up and down, but still money in. By the time we were done exploring and playing slots, it was time to eat a donut and go back to Foxwoods for more slots.

Wooden carvens above the first set of slots (Picture taken by me with my 2MP camera phone)

A logcabin tower (Picture taken by me with my 2MP camera phone)

The huge water fall deep in the building. (Picture taken by me with my 2MP camera phone)

Foxwoods was the same as I remembered it from years ago, but without quarters. Can you say slots with diamonds again, I don’t even pull the handle anymore, but I will say, while I was at Foxwoods, the guy next to me won big, I don’t know the total amount, but it was well into the 700 quarter amount, interesting sight, I believe it was the highest you could win on that slot. By the end of the day, we ended up which included $7 dollar turkey sandwiches and ice cream, leaving with what we came in with, he won and I lost a little, but that was fun. I have to say, both casinos are fun to experience and what a good place for a bachler party… ha ha ha, got yeah mom…

So which ones better, personally, while my family loves Foxwoods more, after experiencing both, I like Mohegan Sun casino more, its better layout including the parking and what a look to its building, damn. Is this the last, no way, I can’t wait until next time in a couple years from now.

You know with an experience, painting a picture meaning writing about it is always a challenge and while interesting, nothing compares to experiencing it yourself. Enjoy

Happy New Year Everyone… New Year Resolutions!

3-2-1-Happy New Year 2008, every year, there’s one thing that I do ever New Years Eve that never changes and that’s the way it should be… sitting down in front of the television to watch Dick Clark’s Rockin’ new Years Eve Party and not bad this year. It’s always interesting to see what acts they have on tap and I was surprised to see one of my favorite country singers Carrie Underwood perform, good performance, did anyone notice during Carrie’s performance that there was a Pontiac G8 behind here, nice car, what a way to showcase it.

Well, now that its 2008 and every year we all do the same thing, we come up with New Years Resolutions and try to stick to them and believe it or not so did I… first and for most, I have been unemployment for a while now and I really want to work, so that’s what I will be concentrating on this year and I have my resume all set and ready to go.

Second, I’ve really been working on my health for a while now, I’ve changed my diet, eating habets and got into to exercising – exercise bike, walking, moving around even on Sunday during a Cup Series race, every little but helps. That’s it for New Years Resolutions, what a list. Good luck with your lists and happy new year everybody.

What does Kenny Wallace, Ralph Sheheen and I have in common on this day?

Pure thoughts with my real life goals.

This is something that I normally don’t blog on, being that of my personal life, but in this case, it has to do with more.

Earlier tonight, I was watching the reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond, the episode entitle “Six Feet Under”, its mainly about Ray’s midlife crisis.

Now while laughing and enjoy this episode, I got to thinking, here is this guy living the life like most of us want to, Ray has everything including a great loving wife, three kids, a sports writing job that pays good and a nice big house on Long Island and all he can is say is this all.

My reaction was, are you kidding me, I know this is a comedy, but it really makes a person think, I’m offen asked about my goals in life, well, here’s mine, a great loving wife, one or two kids, a nice house or townhouse and most of all, a career that pays well and that I enjoy, whether its writing like I do now on my blog, an IT job, a printing job, a real estate job, or something completely different and with that, that’s living the life hands-down.
Just some thought…See Yeah!

Addressing an earlier email about Starbucks and not supporting our troops.

Removed this posting after discovering that the headline "Starbucks is against the war-on-terror and is against supporting our troops" is false from several sources and that the rumor has been around since 2004. The rumor has been quoted incorrectly. The rumor also names Target and I had already know that that was false too. Here's the link for Starbuck's response and here's another link at another site.

My Reply: I had just received this rumor in my MySpace Profile two days ago. When I read this rumor, it immediately got my attention, it also begged me to ask the question on the original posting, did Starbucks really say this or not, I would ask this question if I heard this on anything. Happy to hear that this rumor is false and it just another false rumor going around the internet

Happy New Year from RaceDriven

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Its finally 2007 and the year of 2006 has passed by. Last night, I did what I do every new years eve, I sat up in my bedroom watching first the news at 10pm and them watch Dick Clark's Rockin' News Years Eve Party and I also catch the fireworks from First Night in Boston. I have to say there's nothing like watching the ball drop on television from Times Square in New Year City, maybe one year I will be one of the million people in Times Square, maybe not, first I will have to try First night in Boston.

The Fireworks display on television from Boston was perfect considering I live in Massachustts, what a show. I remember the fireworks display from the fourth and even that was pretty good, but what a display. Good weather too. After that I watch an a couple of shows and movies and went of to sleep. I can even remember seeing the date on my computer screen say Monday, January 1st, 2007.

Well, as for New Years Resolutions, lets face it, Just like most people, I don't really keep to my resolutions, you know loss weight including exercise more, find that special someone or get a better job. The career part is most important to me. Nothing new there in the line of resolutions there, but try out 2007 with a better outlook and start with walking a little, start small with one thing and keep going from there.

As for the New Year, I can't wait to see what this year brings. A new and better Motorsports season including the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Season or just plainly a comer year.Either way, enjoy.

Also check out the first Carnival of Wheels that made its debut yesterday (Dec 31st) at The Garage Blog. Just remember its the offseason in Motorsports and Television is mostly in reruns, theres nothing really to write and blog about. The countdown to Daytona continues with just 47 days to go.

See Yeah!

Something for most people to think about entitled "Nice guys finish last."

Going of the beating path for a moment to a subject that makes most people think, early this morning, I received this on bulletins board on my MySpace Profile and I did just what it says at the bottom I reposted it. However it got me thinking about the very question below, do all girls appreciate nice guys?

Only the ladies in my case can answer this question and since I am considered a nice guy and thats what I hear from girls, then what do you say ladies, whats the answer...

But I didn't leave all of the guys out of this piece, read what is said below and do you consider yourself a nice guy. Now in all fairness, you have to have been told this by a girl to really say you are a nice guy, but this is only one mans opinion.

Now continue reading on down this piece and I will see you at the bottom....

Original Bulletin Board posting:
To every guy that regrets hurting her.
To every guy who knows which girl he wants.
To every guy that's said, "You're beautiful."
To every guy that was never too busy to drive across town to see her. (BIG ONE!!!)
To every guy that gives flowers and a card when she is sick.
To every guy who has given her flowers just because.
To every guy that said he would die for her.
To every guy that really would.
To every guy that did what she wanted to do.
To every guy that cried in front of her.
To every guy that she cried in front of.
To every guy that holds hands with her.
To every guy that hugs her when she's sad.
To every guy that hugs her for no reason at all.
To every guy who would give their jacket up.
To every guy that calls to make sure she got home safe.
To every guy that would sit and wait for her for hours just to be able to see her for ten
minutes.
To every guy that would give his seat up.
To every guy that JUST wants to cuddle.
To every guy that reassured her that she was beautiful no matter what.
To every guy that would slow dance with her under the stars with no music. (So cute)
To every guy who told his secrets to her.
To every guy that tried to show how much he cared through every word and every breath.
To every guy that thought maybe this could be the one.
To every guy that believed in her dreams.
To every guy that would have done anything so she could achieve them.
To every guy that never laughed at her when she told him her dreams.
To every guy that walked her to her car.
To every guy that wasn't just trying to play her.
To every guy that actually listened.
To every guy that gave his heart only to have it shoved back in his face.
To every guy that prays that she is happy even if you are not with her.
This one is for you...

Not all girls appreciate nice guys. There's not many left out there....

If you are a nice guy repost this: "Nice guys finish last."

If you are a girl that thinks every guy should try to encompass even a few of these repost this: "To all the nice guys"
End of Bulletin Board posting.

Well, Anythoughts? I would like to thanks to my college friend on MySpace for posting this on the MySpace Friends bulletin board and for making me think about it...what a way to say it.

Now before I go, I would like to say that I do know some nice guys who have finished first and in their words "I am living my dream", cool.

Until next time,
See Yeah!

Splogs: A POSSIBLE new one

Update 2: Site is offline as of wednesday afternoon/
.
Update: I have received an email from the owners of INSTARACING.COM telling me that they will remove my content and link, but also in the email they explain that bloggers feedback is that bloggers liked what he has to offer and want to see more and that I am the first ask for less.

Thats all it takes, one email.

My Final Thoughts: To me, this is questionable, you ask the owner/editor of other blogs first before you add there content to your site. My advise is still the same, email the owner IF you would like your content removed.

See Yeah!

Original Post:

Back on Febuary 9th, I commented on two possible splogs that had poped up over night, since then with other blogs posting on them, both of them are gone, or at least the content is. (Read previous post...)

However, I have just received an email informing me about another blog with questionable content on it, so unfortunately there MIGHT be another one that has poped up, this one is yet again using the RSS feed of blogs and publishing some of the content (NOT the entire post) on there site with a line below that reads "Original post by -your name- and software by -a name-". The site also has a blogroll going down the rightside and one google adsense advertisements on each site. The blog in question is: INSTARACING.COM.

The content is from these blogs: The RaceChick, Checkpoint 10, Linksheaven Formula 1 Blog, Fastmachines, Dustin Marson, Green Flags and Tyre Smoke, International Herald Tribune Formula 1 Blog, Inside Track Breaking News Blog, Off The Pace, On top of the grassy knoll, The Motorsports Soapbox, BlogF1 and this blog Racedriven.

Unfortunately in this case, INSTARACING.COM is NOT in violation of the Fair Use under copyright law and EFF policy.

To the other blogs listed on INSTARACING.COM, I advise you to email the owner and create a post on your blog IF you would like your content removed.

Site Update: BNB Bulletin, Moderate Comments and Blogger in Beta ideas

Earlier today, I have fully updated my blog with installing and removing a couple different things and I am not done yet.

I did install the BlogNetBiz Automotive Bulletin with the top 10 Latest blog posts from their feed that covers alot of automotive blogs including this blog.

I have also enabled Moderate Comments earlier today.

Earlier this month, I installed a comment and trackback service and even though it worked fine, I really didn't care for it and removed it.

Blogger in Beta ideas:
I have not yet been switched over to the beta in blogger, but I do have some ideas.

1. Install a trackback service to go along with the comments.
2. Enable a blogger user to add or delete photos on the blogger photo server using the browser. I could free up some of the server with just my photos alone.

I have seen blogger in beta and I can't wait until the switch.

See Yeah!

Good to be home

What a wild week when it came to this blog, I decided to go ahead and try out Wordpress.com with moving this weblog over, the transfer had its ups and downs, but smooth. The service and support is good and so is the templates, but earlier today, I discovered a problem, the topic was ads. WP doesn't support Javascript ads after all. You may have noticed two textlink ads from ticketbrokers listed on my sidebar, WP doesn't allow any ads, and now I have decided that Wordpress is a nice free host, but not for me.

Now, I am looking forward to upgrading to blogger in beta and beyond.

See Yeah!

Happy Father's Day

To all of the dad's out there, Happy Father's Day... To my dad, Happy Father's Day dad..
