First, let me first say that I created this list before Sunday’s race at New Hampshire, it was in response to last Sunday night’s WindTunnel question of the week, What will the final 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings be? They asked to send the list in by Thursday and this is the list I sent in and am sticking with, however if I could change one, it would be Greg Biffle.

When it comes to this as a fan, I’m picking Dale Earnhardt Jr., however staying neutral, no fan favorites, going by numbers, I am picking the two-time Sprint-Nextel Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson, he’s strong, he comes on at this time of the year and Jimmie, Chad Knaus and the entire #48 team is a championship contending team week in and week out, they are the team to beat. Second would be Carl Edwards, great year for Edwards and if he can stay away from penalties, he should be just fine.

So what about Kyle, “You have to loss a championship, before you can win one” – Tim Brewer said that on NASCAR Now earlier tonight and I believe that, it more than just flat out racing full throttle, you need to be able to do more and this has been good for him, but Sunday wasn’t.

1. Jimmie Johnson
2. Carl Edwards
3. Kyle Busch
4. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
5. Kevin Harvick
6. Jeff Gordon
7. Tony Stewart
8. Denny Hamlin
9. Jeff Burton
10. Matt Kenseth
11. Greg Biffle
12. Clint Bowyer

After Sunday, Kyle Busch’s 80 point lead is now, -74 in 8th, no more advantage. Greg Biffle, like I said, before I am sorry, you surprised me. Great to see Dale Jr. gain 20 points, keep it up and my dark horse, Kevin Harvick. I have watched this team on his pits, this team can win this championship or at least be contenders. Don’t write off anyone yet, however, two names that come to mind is Clint bowyer and Matt Kenseth, these two need to have better luck, they all have the cars, but no luck.
