NASCAR: Car of Tomorrow in 2007?

NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow hit the track last week in testing..NASCAR might layout a plan for the COT to be on track on short-tracks and road courses in 2007. One big thing to note: “Owners will need to scrap their old bodies and chassis to build NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow.” (NASCAR)

But I would like to say congrads to NASCAR for stepping up and created a better, safer car.

Do NASCAR fans like the Car of Tomorrow pictured above? I personal don’t, but if its safer and makes for better racing, its can’t be all that bad..The COT has to be built from scratch and all of there previous 2006 cars are junked, thats a heavy cost for these teams and car manufacturers pay..for a car that doesn’t look like a “stock” car at all and is not attractive either. What I really want to see on track is “stock” cars, cars that look like a true rear-wheel drive car in the showroom that combined with all of the safety and new technology from the COT, but looks like either the Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro or the Dodge Challenger for 2010-2012, those are cars…the Car of Tomorrow can be made to look better on track.

Darrell Waltrip has posted an article over the off season about the cost of the Car of Tomorrow and I like DW’s comment: “making the car fit the body and do modifications to the existing chassis that the owners have.” (Read)

That is better for owners since NASCAR might plans to have the Car of Tomorrow on short tracks and road courses in 2007.

One Note: I am hereing rumors about the Car of Tomorrow being dead, but as far as I know, they are still testing it and most car owners/teams have built one for testing.

My idea for NASCAR’s restructuring: Just about everyone of read about NASCAR to Restructure Regional Tours in 2007.. One thing that I don’t see is where Modified Tour drivers go up in the ladder program, There needs to be a major series for them, the NASCAR Modified Series should be added next to the Busch Series, so it would be in NASCAR Major Series: The Craftsmen Truck Series, Modified Series, Busch Series and Nextel Cup Series.. That would be really cool to see.

With that said… See Yeah!
