Do we hear $4 Million for a GM Futurliner at the Barrett-Jackson?
in Barrett-Jackson
The 2006 Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction on Speed Channel was interesting to enjoy with all of these dream rides one by one heading across the block, but one vehicle was too big to go across the block and that vehicle ended up going for the most money, the previous owner wanted $1 million dollars for it, but that 1950 GENERAL MOTORS FUTURLINER PARADE OF PROGRESS TOUR BUS with only 12 built by GM went for a record-braking $4 Million Dollars.
The most waited for 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special Concept Car that everyone though would go for more that last years record $3 Million Dollars, went for just below at $2.8 Million Dollars and worth every penny.
Therest of the record-braking top 5 selling cars were all over a million dollars with #3, a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda for $2 Million, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 Drag Racing Car for $1.15 Million and rounding out the top 5 best sellers was a 1952 Chrysler D’Elegance for $1.1 Million Dollars.
A couple of very interesting cars that came on the block Saturday night was the 2007 Shelby GT500 Fastback for $600,000 that I detailed in a past posting, a Specially built on “American Hot Rod” by the legendary Boyd Coddington with design and fabrication input from Max Cohen, a Make-A-Wish kid created a 1963 Dodge Polara 2 Door thats powered by a new 572 CID Hemi crate motor. All proceedes of the sale of this magnificent Hot Rod go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation that went for $500,000 .
Also an amazing Chip Foose Designed and build by Unique Performance, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Custom 2 Door Couple that went for $240,000 — That should have went for a little more..
The 2006 Barrett-Jackson was incredible, spec on and what a show to kick off the 2006 year, great cars and one huge 1950 GM Futurliner that brought big bucks, how will they top this next year..but for us racing fans, this was only the start, next up is the start of the 2006 motorsports season with the Rolex 24 at Daytona next weekend live on Saturday at noon, the 24 hours of Daytona with Rusty Wallace and Danica Patrick in the Howard-Boss Motorsports #2 entry, thats going to be a great race and I can’t wait..
See Yeah!
