"My Take" The Highlight Reel for the Nextel Cup Series.

Wow, its just about July, where has the first 6 months of this year gone. Well in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, a series a never miss everyweek has just reached its halfway point in the 2005 season and has just 10 races left in the race to make the chase.

Rusty Wallace and Mark Martin are both running there last season in the Nextel Cup series, Rusty Wallace (who I have been a fan of since I started watching NASCAR in 1992-1993) is on his Rusty's Last Ride and Mark Martin in his Salute to your tour are both running stronger than every. Mark Martin won the Nextel All-star challenge and Rusty Wallace is 6th in points just behind Mark Martin in 5th. Go get them.....

Some of the big stories this season has been Kasey Kahne getting his first career nextel cup victory at Richmond, Roush Racing with Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards, where Greg Biffle has a series-leading 5 victories so far this season and leads in the points over Jimmie Johnson just 22 points back. Eight different drivers has won this season, but the biggest win this season was at Atlanta Motor Speedway when Carl Edwards won not only his first busch series race, but passing Jimmie Johnson on the highside at the line in the Nextel Cup race to win this first Nextel Cup victory. Carl Edwards has been on a rolls this season while running a full season in both the Busch Series and the Nextel Cup Series, where he has two nextel cup victories and now 9th in points.

In the race to make the chase sees Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr are both outside the top 10, but don't count them out. Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace & Jamie McMurray are in the top 10 now, so who will make the chase and who will not?

The halfway point in the season also marks the changing of the broadcast crews with the NBC & TNT crew taking over starting this week at Daytona with the Pepsi 400.

This was just a couple of highlights from the first half of this season, what with the second half of the season bring, all on NBC & TNT... see yeah at the races...

Today's Motorsports News and Notes:

What an interesting weekend, including yesterday with the Dodge/Save Mart 350 in Somona were Tony Stewart not only picked up his first win of the season, but his 20th career Nextel Cup Victory after a late race pass with Ricky Rudd finishing second. but wasn't just the race, but me trying to watch the races. Yesterday was a bad day in many ways with trying to watch the champ car race were Paul Tracy won from the pole, but I didn't get to see the entire race, my town was one minute with power and the next without power and that happen for a couple of hours each of 3 times and I only got to see the first half of the Champ Car race and the last 42 laps the the Infineon race, but from what I read and watched on TV, both races were good to watch.

Interesting note from yesterday's Champ Car World Series race in Cleveland, any race fan that went to the race with a ticket stub from the Formula 1: US Grand Prix race last week at Indianapolis, got in free of charge, over 1,000 racing fans took advantage of that offer.

Friday & Saturday in Motorsports was simple, Dennis Setzer won the truck race, Johnny Sauter won the busch race in a rough driving type way and Helio Castroneves won the IRL race at Richmond.

Well, that's a wrap, next weekend we go to Daytona for the Pepsi 400 for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race and goodbye to FOX broadcast that put on a good show and hello to NBC & TNT broadcasting team...... enjoy.

FIA answers to the US Grand Prix

Credit: This is a autoblog.com posting, with my comments below.

We feel bad for all those who had tickets to the US Grand Prix and were left with a 6 car race. FIA President Max Mosley has released a question and answer series to share his point of view of the situation. Should US GP ticket holders be refunded? Who was at fault? Was the chicane really necessary for safety? See what he has to say.

Autoblog's question is: It makes you wonder whether the US really needs F1, or if F1 really needs the US. I’m sure those who market F1 licensed goods are envious of NASCAR’s popularity here, or at least their wallets are envious. (Read)

My Comments: I personal love to watch the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and never miss a race. With that said, I also watch the Formula 1 races too, but after the US GP, I don't know, I know that the fans should get there money back or at least get free tickets for next years US GP race. Michelin should have done something on friday or saturday morning and not waited until sunday morning of the race. Its Michelins fault for not speecking up and working with the FIA sooner & the FIA for not coming up with a solution, other than race or else. Safety was in Michelins eyes a problem, but I don't know and either will anyone else. The fans were the only ones who were not at fault and give them a refund or credit. Formula 1 in the US, big question and were? What's Next.....

"My Take" New Show, "30 Days" on FX

Have anyone watched a new show on FX called 30 days, were a guy trys out different things in just 30 days, I missed the first show when he lived on just Fast Food, first off, thats a bad idea for anyone to do, second, they don't give you enough food and third, you will gain weight and thats what he did.

I did watch an show entitled "living on minimum wage for 30 days" were he and his girlfriend went on Ohio and got minium wage jobs, a real cheap apartment, and either took the bus to work or walked in the freezing cold. He got a day time job though an employment agency and even had to take a second job to to make ends meet. She had a job at a fast food place and walked to and from work everyday. A couple of things that they had to deal with was, both of them had to make a trip to the Emergency room and bill for just a visit for his rash on his arm, $551.00, including a $40.00 bandage and hers was basicly the same, totaling $1200+. Living on just over minimum wage at $5.15/hr upto $7.00/hr is outragis compared the cost of living in 2005, no luxurys and etc. wow, that's really interesting, but after 30 days, they could go home and go back to normal with most luxuries, including a car. $5.15/hr is nothing this day in age and without health or dental insurance........ damn...

This is not a bad idea for a show and doing it, just watch out and having a camera in your face everyday. What's Next? (Read more on 30 days)

"My Take" The 2005 U.S. Grand Prix

I am speechless with what has happened and it is a sad day in racing in Indianapolis with the USGP for formula 1. While watching this huge problem unfold live on Speed Channel at was to be the start of the USGP, but to only see all of the Michelin teams at the end of the warmup lap go onto pit road and into there garages and the Bridgestone teams including Ferrari go to the grid with only six teams ready to go and start the race, all it was, was a Bridgestone tire test. I can only say this, outrages... I can't believe that the FIA and Michelin couldn't come up with a solution so that all of the cars could race. This tire problem happened on both Friday and Saturday and solution... this was a safety problem.

The "race" not.. was Ferrari lapping the entire field and Michael Schumacher winning. But the thing is after the race during the ferrari interviews, the two drivers saying this "it's not my problem..", (WRONG) in my opinion, it is, its everyone's problem, its Michelin's, Bridgestones, Ferrari, every team, driver, The FIA, everyone....... The third biggest crowd of formula one and the only race in the United States, before the race, the talk was will there be a second grand prix in the US, I have to say, do anyone really think next year fans are going to come out.. maybe or maybe not? The fans got screwed period. They paid to see a race and with only six cars, no race. What will fans say? What will the FIA do? What's Next? see you..

WindTunnel Question of the week: If you were in charge, What would you have done to save the United States Grand Prix? I would have had a meeting early saturday morning and setup the chicane in Turn 13 and tested out in morning practice and see what happens. Then go from there...

Today's Motorsports News & Notes:

Father's Day Weekend racing at full throttle..

The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race: In a Roush Racing dominating day with Greg Biffle holding off Tony Stewart to win the Batman Begins 400.

The Champ Car World Series race: With near perfect donuts in turn one, that can only mean one thing, welcome back Cristiano da Matta, winning the G.I. Joe's presents the Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland.

Problems at the United States Grand Prix for Formula 1

The FIA's refusal to put up a chicane on Turn 13 means only Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi are racing at Indianapolis. What a disappointment for everyone, U.S. fans outraged and walking out during the race.. only six drivers racing on Bridgestone tires took the green. (Read article.)

Spotlight: 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Subaru has unveiled the Japanese domestic specification version of its 2006 Impreza WRX STi.

What a look, I like the current 2005 model frontend better. But this design is interesting too, the frontend looks a little in a Alfa Romeo? take a look. I like the subaru impreza, its different, lots of power depending on the model and the current model looks great, Subaru, shouldn't change a thing (2005 Impreza). What's Next...

"My Take" The Nextel Cup in Dover

The race for the chase continues for the Nextel Cup Series with its first of two stops at Dover International Speedway, it was Greg Biffle winning his series-leading 4th victory of the season with leading the most laps over Elliott Sadler and Kyle Busch who also lead during the race. The dover race had 7 cautions for debrie and a couple of hard wrecks for Jeff Gordon, Ricky Rudd, Ken Schrader and Dave Blaney. Kyle Busch also continued to show his impressive driving with his run to the front, leading the race and coming up with a second place finish. Mark Martin who was impressed with Kyle Busch's driving too, finished third with Jimmie Johnson and Rusty Wallace all getting top 5's.

The only mistake for Greg Biffle came after the race with a victory burnout saluting the fans and spinning his car into the wall.

With half of the the race for the chase done, Jimmie Johnson has the points-lead with only 46 points over Greg Biffle. The Next stop for the cup series is the 2.5 mile pocono speedway for 500 hard miles of racing.

Spotlight :: Custom Scions, what do you think?

Scion, a Toyota brand, with its unique look, excellent gas mileage, but low on power into three different models. A couple of things that should be added or updated to these models, should be All Wheel Drive (AWD or 4WD), Toyota does have 4WD on the Matrix and more power with and without a supercharger or turbocharger.

Below are photos of custom scions that have been modified with everything, including TV, Superchargers or Turbos, & etc.. Check them out. I had to show these images again.

The first time I saw this Custom Scion xB, I loved it, I would purchase something like this for my daily driver. I don't know what it is, but I like it...

Photography taken by me: Click on link to view photo in popup window.
New England International Autoshow in Boston, MA - November 2004
- Blue Custom Scion xA Rear View.

Northeast International Autoshow in Providence, RI - Febuary 2005
- Blue Custom Scion tC with a complete custom engine area, new wheels & tires and more accessories. (You have to see this car in person.)

Note: These images have been taken by me (Scion photos), if borrowed, please give me credit. Please Don't use my server to host the borrowed image for your website, that's stealing..

Poll and Question:
Question, does all superchargers and turbochargers require premium gasoline or does it depend on the engine and/or vehicle.

Today's Motorsports News & Notes:

Motorsports News & Notes update for Sunday, June 5th. Its 12:30am Saturday late night, heres an update for you:

The Champ Car World Series ran earlier today at the Milwaukee Mile and in domanating fashion, Paul Tracy takes the victory.

In the NASCAR Busch Series race at Dover, Martin Truex Jr. with a late race pass for the lead, picks up the victory.

Even with a postponed race due to rain, Kyle Busch driving in the #15 wins his second consecutive NASCAR Craftsmen Truck Series race at Dover.

Mark Martin plans for 2006 came out on friday, Mark Martin is planning to run the entire 2006 Craftsmen Truck Series for Roush Racing. He has not announced his sponser yet.
Full Article.

Last week, the rumor came out about Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace teaming up to run a combined Nextel Cup Series schedule in 2006 for Roush Racing. In my opinion, that would be fun to watch. When Rusty Wallace said he was retiring after this season with his "Rusty's Last Call" Tour, that doesn't mean he doesn't want to race too. As a fan of Rusty Wallace, I would not be surprised if he is racing in the Truck Series or something close to it. Closing thoughts: The Champ Car World Series, last season, the race was under the lights, today's race was in the day time, I like it under the lights better.
Let's Go racing with the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series at 1pm tomorrow.
